Mission
To protect and improve lower limb health and enhance access to foot care nursing in rural communities.
KYSO foot care is a mobile nursing service! In order to reach individuals living in rural areas, Knock Your Socks Off offers clinic and home visits in several rural communities in Central Frontenac, North Frontenac, and Westport & Area.
KYSO is a professional nursing service. I look at your whole health picture and how your lower limbs are affected. I assess and monitor your foot circulation, sensation, nail and skin condition. If there are significant changes, I will work with your primary care provider to assist you in receiving the best care.
I am committed to upholding your health and safety. I adhere to Public Health Ontario Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) guidelines and keep up-to-date with new information. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and sterile instruments are used at each visit, minimizing your risk of acquiring an infection.
I work with you to develop an individualized care plan to meet your foot health goals. My goal is to prevent lower limb complications.
Early detection is key.
How Foot Care Nursing Can Help
Early detection and monitoring can reduce risk of lower limb complications. Regular monitoring for changes to foot sensation and circulation can alert you to seek further medical attention.
Removing dead tissue, like callus, reduces bacteria growth and improves skin health. Treating fungal infections in the early stages can prevent it from spreading.
Regular monitoring for changes to sensation can reduce risk of chronic foot problems. Detailed documentation, including photos, at each visit to closely monitor progress.
Corns and calluses are often caused by pressure from footwear. An offloading pad can be applied to protect and prevent recurences. We can discuss appropriate footwear or shoe inserts specific for your foot shape and function.
Proper nail cutting can reduce indicents of ingrown nails. They can be safely trimmed or removed by a trained foot care nurse.
How to manage your foot health at home. This can include at-home fungus treatments or exercises that you can continue between foot care appointments.
Let me know what areas of your feet are most bothersome for you. Together, we will create a plan to meet your specific foot health goals.
